The Final Goodbye

😭The Final Echoes of These Halls

The clock is ticking down our final spring,
The heavy books are closed, the essays done.
I walk the paths where morning shadows cling,
Beneath the golden rays of autumn’s sun.
This campus carved its name into my heart,
And now, the hour has come for us to part.

I still remember where it all began,
The nervous footsteps on the freshman lawn,
The endless dreams and futures that we planned,
From quiet dusk until the breaking dawn.
This place became a sanctuary wide,
Where intellect and passion could collide.

And oh, that single, perfect afternoon
The happiest moment that these walls have known!
The shared laughter, a simple, sudden tune,
A joy so deep it felt like it was thrown
From heaven's height to seal our bond in time,
A memory that keeps its perfect rhyme.

The ancient trees that guard the brick and stone,
The velvet grass where we would sit and read,
A peaceful world that we could call our own,
With every blooming flower, every seed.
The sunset painting skies in pink and gold,
A gorgeous view I'll in my memory hold.

It’s hard to think tomorrow I’ll be gone,
An alumnus stepping through the iron gate.
The world outside is calling, moving on,
But part of me will linger here and wait.
I love these arches, ivy-covered stones,
The sweetest home away from home I've known.

So goodbye, hallways, classrooms, and the green,
I carry you in every step I take.
The greatest years that I have ever seen,
And friendships time itself can never break.
Though miles may stretch and new horizons shine,
Dear college, you will always be divine.
